Derek Shore graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1997 with a degree in kinesiology. He began personal training in Melbourne, Australia, in 1998, and continued within the field in 1999 at the YMCA-YWCA here in Ottawa. In 2000, Shore worked at Acceleration Ottawa, a high – performance training center specializing in training hockey players. During that time, he became certified as a Periodization Specialist through Tudor Bompa Systems. After working with the Montreal Expos Triple-A affiliate (Ottawa Lynx) as a volunteer strength coach, Shore went on to join with the Philadelphia Phillies organization, where he was an integral part of the Co-Champion Reading Phillies AA team in 2001. In 2005, Derek graduated with a degree in Education from the University of Western Ontario. Since then he has completed many Paul Chek courses and Charles Poliquin’s Level 1 Theory Course. Derek continues to work with many young athletes from a wide variety of sports, primarily strength and power related. He is currently working on his Specialist of Sports Conditioning certification from the International Sport Sciences Association (ISSA) and is aspiring to get certified through the Poliquin International Certification Program (PICP).
